Hooge prayer letter ~ March 1999
Dear Pastor and friends,
Saltillo
We have seen the Lord bless the work this past month with the
salvation of souls and two baptisms here in Saltillo. Some of the
blessing are:
- We have reached the goal of 60 two times and now have the goal
set at 70. Many have been sick, which has kept us from going over
70. I am teaching the adult Sunday school class. We had 32 adults
last Sunday.
- Second is the Saturday class for kids in the home of one of the
faithful members has been a real success. They have had a high of
28 in one of the classes. Last Saturday was rainy and cold so
some did not come. They had to have the services inside so the
little living room was packed.
Our plans are to start a mission in this Colonia. It is off to a
good start. We are glad to see the work growing but this also creates
a problem. When we have that many our little church building is too
small.
Guardados
We also are glad to report that the work in Guardados is
progressing. Two weeks ago they had 32 in attendance. Bro. Jose Luis
has taken a real interest in the work and has gained the confidence
of the people. Several weeks ago I told about the death of one of the
babies in the church. Sometimes it takes something like this to bring
people back to Him.
Language school
The language school for missionaries is going well. Two of the
students had to drop out because of the wife's sickness. In the
devotional time last week Bro. David, our pastor, gave the devotion.
When he was finished the men were able to get the gist of what he was
saying. It makes it worthwhile when we see the people learning the
language. It is hard but they have a desire to learn. Pray for
Rosalie's health. She loves to teach but sometimes her heart gives
her problems.
Once again we want to thank you for your faithfulness. Because you
pray and support our ministry, there will be souls in Heaven.
